  • Well I am definitely enjoying my digital art class. I've been learning stuff in Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Inkscape, Photoshop, and Painter IX.5

Here is a picture of a house right across the street from a preschool about a mile from where I live. I see this place every time I go to the grocery store.

The scary thing is, it's inhabited.

I took this shot as one for a black and white segment of my portfolio

  • I am taking 2 digital art classes this semester at college, and I got to write the curricula for one of them myself.

Sooooooooooooooooooo, here's what I've been doing since classes began -- the assignment was to make pictures using only geometric shapes.  Some you could use gradients in, others, you could not.

Hyun Jin Nim is amazing.  He has truly taken on the mantle of True Father -- its serious, sobering, and comforting all at the same time -- to see the transformation in him.  Being the messiah is a rough job.  You have to love those who are unlovable as well as those who are endearing.  You have to teach the obvious to the unheeding a thousand times, and still not show impatience with them.  You have to live a lifestyle that is not of your choosing, but is of a need for the sake of others.  You will be God's only and lonely ally, reaching out to those who spurn you, and speaking to those who either listen, half understanding, or don't listen at all.

I am so grateful for the depth of Hyun Jin Nim's character, and for his loyalty to his father.  Loyalty is one of the most precious qualities in the world.  If only Eve had kept it, we would not be in the mess we are in now.

  • The wind is howling a freezing gale outside my window as I type.  The mild Texas climate here that never sees cold is sure getting a good dose of it now, as the ice storms that have plagued the North finally dip into our subtropical climate.  The forcast is rain and sleet for the next two days.  Under those circumstances, it's best to stay home.  People here have no idea how to drive in those conditions.

The howling gale brings a melancholy feeling with it, and an unfamiliar element: the cold.  While the wind howls often here as it courses northward, spawned across thousands of miles of the Gulf of Mexico on warm seas, the feelings it ushers are not sad -- It's just the South Wind, scuplting our trees to point northward with windshear, bringing with it our usual balmy climate.  When it rages, it's tinged with the fearful reality of hurricanes, tornados and tropical storms.  People are too damn scared to feel sad when that happens.  Sadness is a luxury one can feel after the storm. During the storm, you better have already evacuated or be somewhere where a 200 year old oak tree won't fall on you and crush you when it gets uprooted.   This time the raging gale comes out of the North with a vengeance, spawned of arctic thoughts and feelings wholly alien to our clime.  It brings with it frigid temperatures and a feeling of sadness, probably because the poor trees and animals both are shivering outside, thinking "wha hoppen?"

It's so cold, we even let the dog come inside -- that is unprecedented.  It is almost never cold enough for that!
